That's Amoré. Nothing like just grabbing a quick slice on the go in order to satisfy the hunger or waving the white flag for the night and succumbing to grabbing a whole pie to melt on the couch with. We've all been there. Here are some of my favorite places to get a pie in the Big Apple:
5. Joe's, Greenwich Village
When you step in this very quaint 1975 establishment, you have to get a full pie of that pepperoni. The pizza is pillow-like while still having a thin under crust. The sauce hits the spot with the mozzarella being just drippy enough complimented with delicious pepperoni on top.
4.Totonno's, Coney Island
This 91 year-old joint's crown jewel is the margherita. It's a piece of art that is almost too beautiful to eat. The coal-fired crust is perfectly matched with the home-made mozzarella and sauce as it's served on a styrofoam plate.
3. Rubirosa's, NoLIta
With it's recipe rooted from Staten Island, the classic pie is pretty much flawless. At first glance the pie seems super thin but one bite will do the talking as even a Chicagoan can't hate. The marinara is just sweet enough with the various blotches of mozzarella.
2. Lucali, Brooklyn
Here the pie with basil reigns supreme. Located in the Carroll Gardens and celebrities frequently swing by to satisfy there hunger. The charred crust with the garlic sauce and buffalo mozzarella make this pie the ultimate delicacy. Hov!
1. Kesté, West Village
Owned by Roberto Caporuscio, this pizzeria will make you feel like you're leisuring in Naples where he grew up. The puffy crust, tomatoes from the East Village, and home-made mozzarella all put together atop Caputo 00 flour will leave you speechless.
