One of the biggest returning trends is the popularity of gourmet food trucks. These portable kitchens are better than many of the dine-in restaurants and are perfect when strolling trough the city during the lunch time. Here are my favorite ones in the Big Apple:
5. El Olomega
If you're not currently on your papusa game then El Olomega will stop your slacking. Their delicious corn tortillas are filled with your choice of chicken, cheese, jalapenos, and/or pork. Top that off with salsa or sour cream and enjoy.
4. Wafels & Dingels
Spekuloos, spekuloos, spekuloos! This will become your new favorite word. One taste of the cookie butter on the wafel and you'll be in love. They have many other dank toppings including dulce de leche, maple syrup, and nutella.
What started off as a single truck in SoHo has now expanded to several trucks as well as a couple full locations in Brooklyn. One meal will retire you from ever getting Chipotle or Moe's in the city again. Calexico's chipotle "crack" sauce is a must have no matter if you get a quesadilla, taco, burrito, or bowl. The burrito is my go-to though.
2. Korilla BBQ
These trucks are impossible to miss with both it's tiger striped paint a long with lines that can stretch down the block. Their beef is my go-to but the chicken, tofu, and pork are all flame as well. Be sure to also try their great selection of hot sauces.
1. Shorty's On Wheels
Hands down the best Philly Cheesesteak in New York. I always get it with mushrooms and provolone. You can also get cheese wiz instead if you want the more authentic Philly feel. Not only that but they bake their bread fresh by the hour which is a must in my book.
